Network and Computer Systems Administrator is a course of instruction designed to prepare individuals for junior-level jobs as a network and computer systems administrator and prepare them to sit for CompTIA’s A+, Network+, and Security+, and Cisco’s CCENT Certification exams.
Throughout this program students will gain the knowledge and skills most needed by an entry level technician in a small Enterprise network environment.
Graduates from this program usually work in small to big size organizations (public or private) in government, retail, manufacturing or service industries. Examples of work settings where they might expect to find jobs are: schools, computer stores, hospitals, call centers, banks, corporate settings, government agencies, accounting firms.
Sample job titles include: Systems Administrator, Network Administrator, Network Engineer, Information Technology Specialist (IT Specialist), Local Area Network Administrator (LAN Administrator), Information Technology Manager (IT Manager), Systems Engineer, Network Manager, Network Specialist, and such.

WHAT A NETWORK AND COMPUTER SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR DOES?

Network and computer systems administrators are responsible for the day-to-day operation of an organization’s computer networks. They organize, install, and support an organization’s computer systems, including local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), network segments, intranets, and other data communication systems.
Network and computer systems administrators typically do the following:
Maintain and administer computer networks and related computing environments including computer hardware, systems software, applications software, and all configurations.
Perform data backups and disaster recovery operations.
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software, or other network and system problems, and replace defective components when necessary.
Plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures to protect data, software, and hardware.
Configure, monitor, and maintain email applications or virus protection software.
Operate master consoles to monitor the performance of computer systems and networks, and to coordinate computer network access and use.
Monitor network performance to determine whether adjustments need to be made, and to determine where changes will need to be made in the future.
Confer with network users about how to solve existing system problems.

Duration: 920 Clock Hours. The NCSA program takes approximately 8.5 months to complete.
