Top 10 Most Capable Guard Dogs

What are the traits of a guard dog? Aside from the usual traits that all dogs share, guard dogs have to be able to protect their master, to protect the homestead and to deal with any intruder (man or animal) that enters what it perceives to be its territory.

This list in no way is trying to show which dogs are evil, which dogs are stronger than each other and which would kill the other. It shows simply the ten most capable personal and local security dogs one can have. Capable refering to a combination of:
– Physical Performance: Man Stopping Power, Speed, Bite Power
– Tenacity and Drive
– Ferocity and warieness towards intruders
– Intimidation and prevention ability
– Intelligence and Obedience
– Physical Characteristics – Cranial Size, Weight, General Size, Strenght

This list doesn't refer to the most ideal guard dogs as in they provide security but also are very friendly companions. It is strictly on the 10 most capable guard dogs.

Now… There are over 500 dog breeds, just because a dog isnt in the top 10, doesn't mean it isn't capable. On the contrary some of the breeds that lie in the top 200 would be extremely capable man stopers of guardians.

Other capable guard dogs include the Pitbull, the Bull Mastiff, the Boerboel, the Turkish Akbas, The Gull Terr, the Bull Terrier, the Malinois Shepherd, the Dutch Shepherd, the Akita, the Husky, the Malamutes, the Tosa and Fila Braz.
